- Çanakkale Battles Gallipoli Historical Area
The Çanakkale Battles Gallipoli Historical Area, which ranks at the top among the places to visit in Çanakkale, was classified as a historical area in 2014, removing its national park status. Covering the areas where the Çanakkale Naval and Land Battles took place during World War I, the Çanakkale Battles Gallipoli Historical Area encompasses the entire southern tip of the Gallipoli Peninsula, covering almost all of the Eceabat District.
Consisting of sunken ships, cannons, trenches, castles, towers, and remnants of war, the Çanakkale Battles Gallipoli Historical Area houses the graves and monuments of more than 60,000 Turkish martyrs and over 250,000 Australian, New Zealand, British, and French soldiers.
- Çanakkale Martyrs’ Memorial and War Museum
Located on Hisarlık Hill in the Gallipoli Peninsula, the Çanakkale Martyrs’ Memorial was built in 1915 in memory of the Turkish soldiers who lost their lives in the Çanakkale Battles. The memorial, consisting of four legs and a dome, with a height of approximately 42 meters, was opened to visitors in 1960. The magnificent Çanakkale Martyrs’ Memorial is among the places to see in the city.
Near the memorial, there are the Mehmetçik Memorial, Turkish Garden, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Çanakkale Memorial, Wounded Soldier Memorial, Unknown Soldier’s Grave, and Turkish Martyrdom.
Serving in the hall under the Martyrs Memorial, the War Museum was opened in 1971. The museum displays interesting shapes formed by the collisions of bullet cores in the air, alongside sketches, photographs, various utensils, war materials, bullets, and shrapnel pieces stuck to bones. Hosting impressive views, the museum can be visited for 15 TL except for Mondays, from 08:00 to 17:00 six days a week.
- Kilitbahir Fortress and Kilitbahir Castle Museum
Kilitbahir Castle, also known as Kilidü’l-bahr in the old script, means “the castle that locks the sea.” Built by Fatih Sultan Mehmet in 1452 on the European coast of the Dardanelles, the castle was built to prevent European states from helping the Byzantine Empire during the siege of Istanbul.
Located opposite the Çimenlik Castle at the narrowest point of the strait, Kilitbahir Castle houses the Kilitbahir Castle Museum. Displaying the life of Ottoman castles, the Kilitbahir Castle Museum is among the places to visit in Çanakkale.
You can visit Kilitbahir Castle and Museum without paying any fees with the Museum Card, except for Mondays, between 09:00 and 19:00. Those without a Museum Card must pay 30 TL for adults and 15 TL for students to enter the museum.
- 57th Regiment Martyrdom and Memorial (57th Infantry Regiment Martyrdom)
Built by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 1992 on the roadside of Kabatepe – Conkbayırı, the 57th Regiment Martyrdom and Memorial are located at the southern end of Kılıçbayır. This memorial cemetery was dedicated to the 57th Regiment, which consisted of Ottoman soldiers who lost their lives during the Anzac landing, considered the beginning of the Çanakkale Land Battles, and the subsequent battles.
Consisting of a fountain, an open prayer hall, the main cemetery, and a monument, the 57th Regiment Martyrdom evokes indescribable emotions. At the entrance of the martyrdom, there is a bronze statue of Turkey’s oldest veteran, Hüseyin Kaçmaz, holding hands with his grandson, depicted in a poignant manner.
- Conkbayırı
Conkbayırı, located on the western coast of the Gallipoli Peninsula, became the most important hill of the northern front during the Çanakkale Battles due to its dominant position among the surrounding hills. Conkbayırı, where the Conkbayırı Battles took place, is also significant because it is where Atatürk was wounded by his watch during the war.
Containing the Conkbayırı Monuments and the Atatürk Victory Monument, Conkbayırı ranks high among the places to visit in Çanakkale due to its historical importance.
- Troy (Troya) Ancient City
One of the most important historical sites of Çanakkale, the Troy Ancient City, is known as the place where the Trojan War mentioned in Homer’s Iliad took place. Included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1998, the history of the Troy Ancient City dates back to 3000 BC.
Located in the archaeological area known as Hisarlık in Çanakkale, the Troy Ancient City is 30 kilometers away from the city center. You can visit the Troy Ancient City every day between 08:30 and 17:30 with the Museum Card for free.
- Troy Museum
The Troy Museum, located at the entrance of the Troy Ancient City, was opened in 2018. The Troy Museum, covering an area of 90,000 square meters, consists of three floors. The history of Troy is told in seven headings at the Troy Museum. In this context, the museum includes sections on Troas Region Archaeology, Troy’s Bronze Age, Iliad Epic and Trojan War, Troas and Ilion in Ancient Times, Eastern Roman and Ottoman Period, Archaeological History, and Traces of Troy.
The Troy Museum, which also includes the artifacts from the Çanakkale Archaeology Museum in 2018, is open every day from 08:30 to 17:30. Those without a Museum Card must pay a fee of 600 TL to enter the Troy Museum.
- Çanakkale Mirrored Bazaar
The Mirrored Bazaar mentioned in the famous Çanakkale folk song appears as one of the symbols of the city. Built-in 1890 by Eliyau Hallio, one of the prominent members of the city’s Jewish community, the bazaar is also known as Halyo Bazaar.
Renovated by the Çanakkale Municipality in 2007 after being bombed and damaged during the Gallipoli War, the Mirrored Bazaar houses shops selling souvenirs unique to Çanakkale. During your visit to Çanakkale, you can stop by the Mirrored Bazaar and buy gifts for yourself or your loved ones.
- Çimenlik Fortress and Naval Museum
Serving in the Kale-i Sultaniye, known as the Çimenlik Fortress, the Çanakkale Naval Museum was opened in 1982. Covering an area of Çimenlik Fortress, the Çanakkale Naval Museum consists of the Nusret Mine Ship, the Çanakkale Battles Specialized Library, the Çimenlik Fortress (Kale-i Sultaniye), the Souvenir Building, and the Painting and Photography Gallery.
In the garden and park area, various cannons used in the Çanakkale Battles by different nations are exhibited. The Çanakkale Naval Museum can be visited six days a week, except for Monday, from 09:00 to 17:00. The entrance fee is 60 TL for adults and 30 TL for discounted student tickets.
- Çanakkale Clock Tower
The Çanakkale Clock Tower, located in the Central District of Çanakkale, is situated near the ferry pier. Built by Sancakbeyi Cemil Pasha in 1896 during the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid II, the clock tower greets us as one of the symbols of Çanakkale.
Consisting of five floors, the 20-meter-high Çanakkale Clock Tower is square-shaped and built using cut stone. The top floor of the Çanakkale Clock Tower houses the clock bell, with a polygonal body and a domed corner pavilion. Illuminated in the evening, the clock tower looks beautiful at all times of the day.
- Çanakkale Old Armenian Church
The Old Armenian Church in the city center of Çanakkale is located in Zafer Square in the Fevzi Paşa neighborhood. Also known as Surp Kevork Armenian Church, the historic structure was built in 1873 by Sultan Abdülaziz for the Armenian community in Çanakkale.
After Armenians migrated from Çanakkale, the building, which fell into disuse, served successively as the Çanakkale Archaeology Museum, Namık Kemal Theater Hall, and Çanakkale Ethnography Museum before being transferred to Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University in 2005. Today, the Old Armenian Church, which is used for exhibitions, performances, and various events, is considered one of the historical places to visit in Çanakkale.
- Çanakkale Waterfront
The waterfront in downtown Çanakkale appears as a place where both natural and historical beauties are located along the coast. Along the most visited places in the city, the Waterfront features the Trojan Horse, Calendar Sun Dial, Aynalı Çarşı (Mirrored Bazaar), museums, shops selling local and souvenir items. During your visit to Çanakkale, don’t leave the city without seeing the places on the waterfront and watching the sunset here.
- Trojan Horse
The Trojan Horse used in the famous actor Brad Pitt’s movie “Troy” is exhibited on the Çanakkale Waterfront. Alongside the majestic Trojan Horse, there is also a model of the city belonging to the sixth layer of Troy. A panel with brief information about the city of Troy and its different periods enlightens visitors. When you visit the waterfront, you can take a photo with the famous Trojan Horse and feel like you’re traveling through time.
- Çanakkale Ceramic Museum
Located on the Çanakkale Waterfront, the Ceramic Museum was opened in 2013 in the historic building constructed as the Er Hamamı (Bathhouse) in 1904. In the museum, exhibitions are presented to visitors including Çanakkale ceramics, products of contemporary ceramic art and craftsmen, exhibitions prepared with different art/design products based on the history and styles of ceramics/earthenware.
Open between 09:00 – 17:00 from September 1st to March 31st, and between 10:00 – 19:00 from April 1st to August 31st, the Çanakkale Ceramic Museum can be visited for free except on Mondays.
- Çanakkale Liberty Park
Located on a hill overlooking the Çanakkale Strait, Liberty Park greets visitors with a unique harmony of green and blue. One of the most visited places in Çanakkale, the park hosts various events, exhibitions, and festivals. At the end of the Çanakkale Waterfront, various activities are organized in Liberty Park.
- Piri Reis Museum
The only museum in our country in its field, the Piri Reis Museum is located near the Çanakkale Waterfront. Operating under Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ), the museum exhibits a section of Piri Reis’s famous work Kitab-ı Bahriye (Book of Navigation), various sea maps, marine life, and fishing tools used in fishing.
Located on the 2nd floor of the Faculty of Fisheries of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Terzioğlu Campus, the Piri Reis Museum is open for visits on weekdays between 08:00 – 17:00. As a special museum, the entrance fee for the Piri Reis Museum is 3 TL.
- Çanakkale City Museum and Archive
Operating in one of the original civilian architectural examples of 1800s Çanakkale, the City Museum and Archive were opened in 2009. Located on the corner of Fetvane Street turning into Çarşı Avenue, across from Yalı Mosque, the Çanakkale City Museum and Archive consists of three floors.
The Çanakkale City Museum features information panels about the Ancient Periods of Çanakkale, the Ottoman Period, and World War I, some objects remaining from the Çanakkale War, and exhibition areas. Closed on Mondays, the Çanakkale City Museum and Archive can be visited for free between September 1st – March 31st from 09:00 – 17:00, and between April 1st – August 31st from 10:00 – 19:00. Additionally, every Wednesday from 18:00 – 19:00, a City Chat (Kent Sohbeti) can be attended free of charge.
- Akbaş Martyrs’ Cemetery
Located at the 30th kilometer while traveling from Gelibolu to Eceabat, the Akbaş Martyrs’ Cemetery is situated at Akbaş Port, which was one of the main supply points for Turkish troops during the battles. It is said that there was a mobile hospital of the 19th Division in the Akbaş region, where war materials arriving from Istanbul by sea were landed and distributed.
During enemy attacks, soldiers who sank or were under heavy attack on ships were buried in the main cemetery area to the right of the road leading to Yalova Village. In the Akbaş Martyrs’ Cemetery, located 25 meters up the road on the right side of the road towards Yalova Village, 459 symbolic tombstones have been erected.
Renewed in 2013, the Akbaş Martyrs’ Cemetery features a statue emphasizing the events experienced between soldiers of both sides during the battles with a message of peace and friendship, and a monument dedicated to the 1915 Çanakkale Martyrs at the back of the symbolic graves.
- Güzelyalı Beach
Güzelyalı Beach, one of the closest places to swim in the sea in Çanakkale city center, is located just 12 kilometers away from the city. Located at a point where the Çanakkale Strait meets the lush green forest, Güzelyalı Beach has a facility belonging to Çanakkale Municipality. With free toilet and shower facilities available, you can rent sun loungers and umbrellas for a fee at Güzelyalı Beach. If you want to enjoy the sea during your visit to Çanakkale, you can visit Güzelyalı Beach.
- Çanakkale Pier Square
Located by the sea, İskele Square, where the centuries-old magnolia tree is located, is situated. With a walking and running track, a bicycle path, resting areas, cafes, and restaurants, İskele Square stands out as one of the squares that must be visited in Çanakkale. You can also spend a pleasant day by the sea by going to İskele Square.
- Namazgâh Battery, also known as the Rumeli Aziziye, is located near Kilitbahir Castle in Çanakkale. It stands out as one of the historical coastal defense points, just 4 kilometers away from the city center.
Built during the reign of Sultan Abdülaziz, Namazgâh Battery earned its name because Friday prayers were held here. The large structure opposite the entrance of the battery has been opened as a museum. Namazgâh Battery Museum, made accessible for disabled visitors, exhibits artifacts, photographs, and information related to the Çanakkale War.
- Anadolu Hamidiye Battery Çanakkale Wars History Museum Located just one and a half kilometers from the city center, the Anadolu Hamidiye Battery Çanakkale Wars History Museum is situated in the Barbaros neighborhood. Built in the 1890s by Sultan Abdülhamit II to secure the straits, the Hamidiye Battery comprises 10 ammunition depots and nine semi-circular artillery platforms.
Opened to visitors in 2018, the history museum at Hamidiye Battery features the Miniature Gallipoli Area, where miniatures of forts, batteries, and memorials on both sides of the Dardanelles are displayed.
- Rumeli Mecidiye Battery Situated on the Gallipoli Peninsula, the Rumeli Mecidiye Battery was commissioned by Sultan Abdülmecit in 1892, under the direction of Asaf Pasha. Located south of Kilitbahir Castle, the Rumeli Mecidiye Battery gained attention as the battery where Seyit Onbaşı lifted a 270-kilogram shell.
One of the largest of the Ottoman Empire’s modern defense measures, the Rumeli Mecidiye Battery consists of 8 casemates and four 24 cm and two 28 cm German-made cannons. The entrance to Rumeli Mecidiye Battery features cobblestone paths and souvenir shops. The battery also houses the Tomb of Egyptian Feyzullah Efendi, the Mecidiye Martyrs’ Cemetery, a model of the Rumeli Mecidiye, and a Krupp cannon.
- Seyit Onbaşı Monument The Seyit Onbaşı Monument, located at the Rumeli Mecidiye Battery, commemorates the bravery of all the soldiers who heroically resisted the Allied fleet aiming to reach Istanbul on March 18, 1915, as well as Seyit Onbaşı himself. Another statue of Seyit Onbaşı by sculptor Hüseyin Anka Özkan can be found on the seafront side of the Mecidiye Battery.
- Gelibolu Named after the Greek “Beautiful City,” Kallipolis, Gelibolu is situated on the European side of the Dardanelles. With a rich history as a naval base, Gelibolu is thought to be as ancient as the city of Troy.
Significant for its role in the Çanakkale Wars, Gelibolu stands out as one of the must-visit districts in the city. Among the places to see in Gelibolu are the Gallipoli Peninsula Historical National Park, Anzac Cove, Gelibolu War Museum, Gelibolu Mevlevi Lodge, Hamzaköy Beach, and the Antique Tractor Museum.
- Anzac Cove Anzac Cove, where the Anzacs landed on April 25, 1915, during the Çanakkale Wars, stretches for 600 meters. Surrounded by hills from the north, Anzac Cove was used as the main base by the Anzacs after the landing.
Anzac Cove on the Gallipoli Peninsula is visited by thousands of Anzac descendants every year on April 25th. Recognized as Anzac Day, visitors commemorate their ancestors who lost their lives here.
- Gelibolu Mevlevi Lodge Gelibolu Mevlevi Lodge, where dervishes were trained and rituals were held, stands out as the most extensive semahane (ritual hall) among the 15 Mevlevi lodges. Established in the 17th century, Gelibolu Mevlevi Lodge was founded by Ağazade Mehmet Hakiki Dede, the son of the Janissary aga Kara Hasan Ağa.
Used as an arsenal when Gelibolu was occupied by enemies, the Mevlevi Lodge was purchased by the General Directorate of Foundations in 1994 and restored. It was opened to visitors in 2005. With its beautiful architecture, the Mevlevi Lodge hosts sema ceremonies every month, organized by the Gelibolu Mevlevi Lodge Preservation and Mevlevi Culture Promotion Association.
- Hamzaköy Beach Located 55 kilometers from the city center, Hamzaköy Beach is in the heart of Gelibolu. One of Çanakkale’s blue flag beaches, Hamzaköy is characterized by its golden sands covering a kilometer-long area. Facilities such as showers, toilets, and umbrellas are provided free of charge by the municipality for those who want to swim in the sea in Çanakkale.
- Ayvacık Ayvacık, located 68 kilometers from the city center of Çanakkale, stands out as one of Turkey’s most important tourism areas, hosting the Behramkale Village and the Ancient City of Assos within its borders. With an 83-kilometer coastline, Ayvacık boasts some of Çanakkale’s longest stretches of beach due to its mountains running parallel to the sea.
Famous for both its historical and natural beauty, Ayvacık’s must-visit places include Behramkale Village, the Ancient City of Assos, Kadırga Cove, Babakale Village, and its Castle.
- Behramkale Village Situated north of the Tuzla River and south of the Edremit Gulf, behind the Aegean Sea and the Greek island of Lesbos, Behramkale Village is a protected area. Welcoming visitors as a charming village, Behramkale is now a tourist destination with pensions, hotels, restaurants, and souvenir stalls. Behramkale, where you can visit historical sites such as the Ancient City of Assos, the Assos Harbor, and the Hüdavendigar Mosque, is one of the popular travel routes in Çanakkale.
- Assos Ancient City Located approximately 17 kilometers south of Ayvacık district in Çanakkale, the Assos Ancient City in Behramkale Village has been on the UNESCO World Heritage Temporary List since 2017. Throughout history, Assos came under the rule of Lydia, Persia, Pergamon, and Rome, and it became wealthy due to the passing ships, as it had the only major port in the region.
The great philosopher Aristotle lived in Assos for three years and established a school of philosophy there. Considered sacred by Christians because it was visited by Saint Paul, the Assos Ancient City is of great importance in the history of philosophy.
Hosting the Doric-style Temple of Athena, the Assos Ancient City is open for visits every day from 08:30 to 17:30. Perched atop a hill, Assos Ancient City offers magnificent views combining natural and historical beauty to its visitors. While visitors with a Museum Card can enter the archaeological site for free, those without the card need to pay 250 TL at the entrance.
- Kadırga Cove Adjacent to the Assos Ancient Harbor, Kadırga Cove derives its name from “kadırga,” the most commonly used type of ship in the Ottoman Navy. In the past, kadırga ships used to dock here for provisions and water supply.
Kadırga Cove, with its crystal-clear and clean sea, offers sunbeds and umbrellas provided by local businesses for those who wish to swim in Assos’s clear waters. When you visit Assos, you can enjoy the sea at Kadırga Cove, where blue meets green.
- Babakale Village Babakale Village, the westernmost point of our country, is located 110 kilometers from Çanakkale city center and 52 kilometers from Ayvacık district center. Situated at the tip of the Biga Peninsula, Babakale is a small settlement. You can visit Babakale to explore the natural beauty of the village and visit Babakale Castle.
- Babakale Castle Also known as the Hırzü’l-Bahr Castle, Babakale Castle is known as the last castle built during the Ottoman Period. Built between 1722 and 1729 by Kaymak Mustafa Pasha to protect against European pirate attacks, the castle is believed to have been accompanied by structures such as a hammam, a fountain, and a mosque built during the same period. Entry to Babakale Castle costs 10 TL. Visitors to Babakale Castle receive a certificate from the village council stating that they have visited the westernmost point of Asia. You can obtain your certificate from the attendant at the castle or from the tea garden in the square. At this point in the article, we would like to remind you that such a certificate is only issued in two places in the world: Cabo da Roca in Portugal, the westernmost point of Europe, and Babakale.
- Küçükkuyu Küçükkuyu, a town connected to Ayvacık district of Çanakkale, is located 94 kilometers from the city center and 24 kilometers from the district center. Depending on fishing and olive cultivation for its livelihood, Küçükkuyu hosts some of the highest quality olive oils in our country. With its proximity to Assos, Küçükkuyu is notable for Zeus Altar, which is visited by many people.
- Küçükkuyu Port Küçükkuyu Port is located 10 kilometers from Altunoluk. A clean and charming place, Küçükkuyu Port is surrounded by numerous tea gardens and restaurants. The sea water in the bustling port area is a bit chilly in the summer, just a heads-up. Gift stalls set up near the port in the summer evenings make the area lively and colorful.
- Zeus Altar Known as the place where the god Zeus lived and directed the Trojan War according to legend, Zeus Altar is a cave located on the extension of Mount Ida. Situated on Dede Hill, the Zeus Altar was created by carving the rock mass. The Zeus Altar, accessed by stairs made of carved steps, features altar niches, seating platforms, and a cistern area hollowed out inside.
- Başdeğirmen – Mıhlı Waterfall Mıhlı Creek, one of the natural beauties of Küçükkuyu, is located 95 kilometers from the city center and 29 kilometers from the district center. Başdeğirmen region, where an old mill from the Byzantine period is located, also houses a Roman-era arched bridge. A few kilometers beyond the mill, Mıhlı Waterfall and Pond offer a beautiful place to spend time in nature.
- Adatepe Village Declared a protected area in 1989, Adatepe Village is located in Ayvacık district of Çanakkale. Located 105 kilometers from the city center and 35 kilometers from the district center, the village is located in Küçükkuyu. Adatepe Village, under the protection of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, is situated on the southwest slope of Mount Ida. Formerly inhabited by both Greeks and Turks, Adatepe Village is among the places to visit in Çanakkale. Renowned for its olive oil and herbed ice cream, Adatepe Village’s must-see places include its historical village streets, the Stone School, and the nearby Olive Oil Museum.
- Yeşilyurt Village Regarded as the most popular village of Mount Ida, Yeşilyurt welcomes us as a charming place connected to Ayvacık district of Çanakkale. Protected by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Yeşilyurt Village is located 95 kilometers from the city center and 21 kilometers from the district center. Located within the Küçükkuyu neighborhood, Yeşilyurt Village is a lovely place where sea and mountain tourism coexist.
- Bozcaada Bozcaada, the third largest island in Turkey, is situated near the entrance of the Dardanelles Strait. Accessed by ferry from the town of Geyikli, Bozcaada is one of the most visited places in Çanakkale.
Famous for its annual Grape Harvest Festival held in the first week of September, Bozcaada is Turkey’s only district without a village. Also known as Tenedos, Bozcaada is not only preferred for sea tourism but also stands out with its historical structures. Among the places to visit in Bozcaada are Bozcaada Castle, Ayazma Beach, Mermer Burnu, and Polente Lighthouse.
- Bozcaada Castle Bozcaada Castle Immediately catching the eye when arriving by ferry to Bozcaada, Bozcaada Castle was built to protect the island from invasions. The exact builder of Bozcaada Castle is unknown, but it consists of two sections: inner and outer. Within Bozcaada Castle, there is an ethnography exhibition and an open-air museum established with the support of the public.
Bozcaada Castle is open every day, and Museum Card is not valid. Therefore, visitors need to pay 10 TL for a full ticket and 5 TL for a discounted ticket to enter the castle.
- Bozcaada Ayazma Beach Bozcaada Ayazma Beach One of Bozcaada’s largest beaches, Ayazma, stands out with its fine sandy structure. Known for its cold water, Ayazma Beach is surrounded by cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy refreshments.
You can visit Ayazma Beach in Bozcaada to enjoy the trio of sea, sand, and sun. Since it is very popular, especially on weekends during the summer season, we recommend going to Ayazma Beach early in the morning.
- Mermer Burnu Mermer Burnu Mermer Burnu, preferred for swimming in Bozcaada, impresses visitors with its pristine sea. As there are no establishments around Mermer Burnu, we recommend going prepared. Also known as Aquarium Cove, Mermer Burnu is frequently chosen by those who want to dive due to its rich underwater life.
- Polente Lighthouse Polente Lighthouse Visited to watch the sunset in Bozcaada, Polente Lighthouse stands out as one of the symbols of the island. Located at the westernmost tip of Bozcaada, Polente Lighthouse is 32 meters high. To reach Polente Lighthouse, you need to walk a part of the road even if you use a private vehicle or minibus. Since there are some bushes and dirt on the walking part, we recommend wearing comfortable shoes.

- Gökçeada (Imbros) Gökçeada (Imbros) Turkey’s largest island, Gökçeada, is located in the north of the Aegean Sea, at the entrance of Saros Bay. With 91 kilometers of coastline, Gökçeada welcomes us as one of Turkey’s tranquil towns (cittaslows).
Accessible by car ferry departing from Kabatepe Port, Gökçeada impresses visitors with both its natural and historical beauties.
- Kefalos Beach Kefalos Beach The most famous beach of Gökçeada, Kefalos Beach, is 1200 meters long. Also known as Aydıncık Beach, Kefalos captivates visitors with its fine sand. Frequently chosen for windsurfing, Kefalos Beach is located 10 kilometers from the center of the island. With its windy yet waveless sea, the beach is very suitable for surfing, making it a new surfing center in Turkey after Alaçatı.
- Gizli Liman Cove Gizli Liman Cove Belonging to the historic Greek village of Dereköy, Gizli Liman Cove welcomes us as the last point to reach on the western tip of the island. Located at the end of Uğurlu Beach, Gizli Liman Beach offers shower, toilet, and buffet services provided by villagers. Gizli Liman Cove, where you can enjoy the sea in Gökçeada, is a quiet and peaceful place.
- Gökçeada Underwater National Park Gökçeada Underwater National Park Located 5 kilometers from the center of Gökçeada, the Underwater National Park is Turkey’s first and only underwater park. Declared a park by the Turkish Marine Research Foundation (TUDAV) in 1999, the area is located between Yıldız Cove and Kuzu Port in the northeast of the island.
Covering a one-nautical-mile area from the coast and 200 meters from the sea, Gökçeada Underwater National Park is located between Yelken Rock and Çiftlik Cove. Professional diving is permitted in the Underwater National Park, which houses underwater cave entrances and hosts many marine creatures, including the Mediterranean seal. However, permission must be obtained from relevant institutions to dive.
- Peynir Kayalıkları Peynir Kayalıkları Among the natural beauties to be seen in Gökçeada, Peynir Kayalıkları (Cheese Rocks) is located at Kaşkaval Burnu, just to the left of Kuzu Port. Named after the natural formations resembling stacked cheese molds, Peynir Kayalıkları can only be seen by boat from the sea. Positioned about 15 minutes from Kaleköy Port by boat and 5 minutes from Kuzu Port, Gökçeada Peynir Kayalıkları offers a picturesque view.
- Biga Biga District, located 90 kilometers away from the provincial center, is surrounded by Gönen to the east, Lapseki to the west, Çan to the south, and the Sea of Marmara to the north. The city center, situated at the foot of a hill called Balıkkaya, is approximately 38 meters above sea level. Surrounded by historical and natural beauties, prominent places to visit in Biga include Lake Nilüfer, Çınarlık Park, Priapos, and the ancient city of Parion.
- Lake Nilüfer in Biga Among the natural beauties of Biga, Lake Nilüfer is located 100 kilometers from the provincial center and only 7 kilometers from the district center. Lake Nilüfer in Kalafat Village offers magnificent views with its white lotus flowers blooming between May and October. It is highly recommended not to pick these protected lotus flowers, as there are severe penalties for doing so. There is a Lotus Walking Path around the lake operated by the Nilüfer Lake Forest Park Management.
- Çınarlık Park in Biga Çınarlık Park in the city center of Biga is located 96 kilometers from the provincial center. As the name suggests, Çınarlık is one of Biga’s greenest parks, featuring plane trees. With playgrounds, a cafeteria, and parking, Çınarlık Park is particularly crowded on weekends.
- Priapos Ancient City Located 112 kilometers from the provincial center in the Karabiga district of Biga, Priapos Ancient City was founded around 670 BC. The ancient city, thought to be named after Priapos, the protective god of vineyards, gardens, and fertility, is mentioned in ancient sources as a city famous for viticulture. Priapos Ancient City holds an important place in the archaeology world as the only city dedicated to Priapos.
- Parion Ancient City Parion Ancient City, located within the borders of Kemer Village in Biga, Çanakkale, is 95 kilometers from the provincial center and 31 kilometers from the district center. Parion came under Hellenic rule after Alexander the Great’s victory over the Persians. Later, it fell under the rule of the Kingdom of Pergamon and then the Romans. After the Byzantine period, Parion was revealed to be an important bishopric center. Parion Ancient City features a southern necropolis area, Roman baths, theater, and Odeon ruins. You can visit Parion Ancient City free of charge as excavation works continue.
- Balıkkaya Hill Balıkkaya Hill, located in the Biga District, is only 2 kilometers from the district center and 99 kilometers from the provincial center. Used as a recreational area today, Balıkkaya Hill offers beautiful views due to its high location. With picnic areas, a children’s park, and seating areas, Balıkkaya Hill has a café named Tepe Kafe offering services.
- Kabatepe Beach Kabatepe Beach, located 10 kilometers from the center of Eceabat district, is situated west of the Gökçeada Pier. Located within the Gallipoli Peninsula Historical National Park, Kabatepe Forest Park is preferred by day visitors. You can reach Kabatepe Beach by buses or minibusses departing from the city center, where you can spend a beautiful day amidst greenery and blue.
- Çanakkale Aqualand Being the largest water park in the North Aegean region, Çanakkale Aqualand is a place where you can have fun with your children. Located 10 kilometers away from the provincial center, Çanakkale Aqualand offers activities such as water polo, key puzzle, and foam party. Open every day from 10:00 to 18:00, the entrance fee to Aqualand is renewed every season.
- Tarihe Saygı Parkı (Respect to History Park) Tarihe Saygı Parkı, located next to the ferry dock in Eceabat district, appears as a miniature park. In Tarihe Saygı Parkı, there is a three-dimensional miniature map covering the battlefields and settlements of the Çanakkale Strait and Gallipoli Peninsula. A three-dimensional animation reflecting trench life and trench battles is also displayed. Opened in 2008, Tarihe Saygı Parkı is free to visit.
- Güneyli Village Beach Güneyli Beach, located 65 kilometers from the provincial center, is one of the most beautiful beaches in Gelibolu. Güneyli Beach, which is 50 meters wide and 400 meters long, is preferred by those looking for a quiet place to swim. With its shallow sea suitable for children and novice swimmers, Güneyli Beach offers facilities such as showers, toilets, dressing cabins, buffet, café, and restaurant.
- Kömür Limanı Located near Fındıklı Village in the Gelibolu District, Kömür Limanı is situated in the Saros Gulf. Formerly known for the transportation of coal by boats, the area is now becoming a hub for diving tourism in Turkey. Kömür Limanı, where the sea depth increases to 4 – 5 meters, is located directly across from Despot Limanı.
- Papaz Beach Papaz Beach, located in Yeniköy, a district of Gelibolu, is 50 kilometers away from the provincial center. With toilet and shower facilities available, Papaz Beach offers a clean sea. Various festivals are also held at Papaz Beach at certain times of the year, and entrance is subject to a fee.
- Bigalı Castle Construction of Bigalı Castle, located 5 kilometers from the Eceabat district on the European side, began during the reign of Sultan Selim III. Completed during the reign of Mahmud II, the materials of the city of Sestos were used in the construction of Bigalı Castle. After restoration, Bigalı Castle was opened to visitors in 2022, featuring a weapons repair workshop, reenactments, and images projected by projection. Situated right by the sea, Bigalı Castle can be visited free of charge with a Museum Card. For those without a Museum Card, the entrance fee to the castle is 30 TL for a full ticket and 15 TL for a discounted ticket.
- Büyük Kemikli Point One of the natural beauties of Çanakkale, Büyük Kemikli Point is located in the Eceabat District. After passing through Küçük Anafartalar Village, you can reach the bay located in the Saroz Gulf, also known as “Suvla Point” by foreigners. - Ayazma Spring Nature Park Ayazma Spring Nature Park, located in the Bayramiç District of Çanakkale, is about 100 kilometers away from the provincial center and 29 kilometers from the district center. With waterfalls, streams, walking paths, and picnic areas, Ayazma Spring Nature Park is considered one of the natural beauties to see in Çanakkale. Entrance to Ayazma Spring Nature Park is subject to a fee, where you can spend a beautiful day in nature.
- Dardanos Beach Dardanos Beach, just 3.5 kilometers away from the city center, has been awarded the Blue Flag since 2021. With its clean sea, sandy beach, and easy accessibility, Dardanos Beach is visited by many people. With a length of 77 meters and a width of 5 meters, Dardanos Beach is suitable for windsurfing due to its windy conditions.
- Lapseki Lapseki, a district of Çanakkale on the Anatolian side, is located 34 kilometers away from the provincial center. Regular ferry services are available between Gelibolu and Lapseki. It is believed that Lapseki derived its name from Lampsakos, the daughter of a philosopher who settled in this region during the Ancient Greek period. Lapseki is famous for its cherries, and the Lapseki Cherry Festival is held every year. Places to visit in Lapseki include Çardak Kum Adası, Çardak Arıburnu Martyrs’ Cemetery, Lapseki Martyrs’ Cemetery, İki Alatlı Hills and Martyrs’ Cemetery, and Gazi Yakup Bey Mosque and Complex.
- Kum Adası (Sand Island) Located in the Çardak district of Lapseki, Çanakkale, Kum Adası is 39 kilometers away from the provincial center and only 5 kilometers away from the district center. Extending about 100 meters from the coast and connected to the mainland by a small bridge, Kum Adası is believed to have healing sands. The sands of Kum Adası, visited by rheumatism patients from all over the country, are said to have therapeutic properties, and visitors bury themselves in the sand seeking healing.
- Çardak Arıburnu Martyrs’ Cemetery Located 39 kilometers away from the provincial center, the Çardak Arıburnu Martyrs’ Cemetery is just 5 kilometers away from the district center. Built in 1940, this cemetery is situated on the Çanakkale-Bursa road. During the Arıburnu Battles, the village of Çardak was used as a hospital, responsible for the treatment and care of our soldiers. The bodies of soldiers who lost their lives during the war or in hospitals were buried in the Çardak Arıburnu Martyrs’ Cemetery.
- Süleyman Pasha Mosque Situated in Gazi Süleyman Paşa Neighborhood in the Lapseki District, Süleyman Pasha Mosque is located 34 kilometers away from the provincial center. Built by Prince Süleyman, the son of Orhan Gazi, in 1354 before the conquest of Gelibolu, the mosque draws attention with its simple architecture. Constructed on the highest point of Lapseki, the mosque has a modest design.
- Gazi Yakup Bey Mosque and Complex Located 39 kilometers away from the provincial center in the Çardak district center, the Gazi Yakup Bey Mosque and Complex consists of a mosque, inn, primary school, lodge, and bakery. Built by Abdullah Bin Hacı Yakup Bey between 1464 and 1475, the mosque reflects the architectural features of 15th-century Ottoman architecture, featuring a single dome and a minaret.
- Dalyan Beach Dalyan Beach, a hidden natural beauty of Çanakkale, is ideal for enjoying the sea in Lapseki. It is situated 36 kilometers away from the provincial center and only 3 kilometers from the district center. - Rhapsodos Mosaic Workshop The Rhapsodos Mosaic Workshop in the city center of Çanakkale welcomes visitors as a beautiful art center. Located on Yeni Havra Street, the mosaic workshop showcases 43 mosaic portraits made with ceramics. Specializing in Troy legends and portraits, the Rhapsodos Mosaic Workshop offers workshops that visitors can participate in, except on Sundays, from 09:00 to 18:00 by appointment.

- Yedi Taşlar (Seven Stones) Yedi Taşlar, located within the borders of Koçali Village, 13 kilometers away from Ezine, can be reached by following the Ezine-Gülpınar road. The columns, which are believed to have been ordered for use in structures belonging to the Roman Empire, were made here and shipped to ships from Dalyan Pier. It is thought that the stones, with an average weight of 50 to 60 tons, were left behind during transportation.
