1 – Liquids and Gel Products

When boarding airplanes, you’re allowed to bring a limited amount of liquid products with you, but these liquids must not exceed 100 ml. You can pack liquids or gel products in sturdy, unopened containers or sealed bags, ensuring they are 100 ml or less, into your luggage.

Additionally, there are no restrictions on bringing essential items such as baby formula, provided you have enough for the duration of your journey. For carrying liquid medications, you’ll need to have a medical report indicating your need for the medication and its regular usage.

2 – Piercing and Cutting Items

It’s essential to ensure that your luggage does not contain any sharp or piercing objects as these items are not permitted on airplanes to maintain the safety of passengers and property. When preparing your luggage, make sure you haven’t packed any such items.

Sharp and piercing objects that should not be carried onboard include:

  • Scissors
  • Knives
  • Pocket knives
  • Knitting needles and crochet hooks
  • Barbed wire
  • Razor blades
  • Syringes and needles
  • Scalpels

In addition to sharp and piercing objects, it’s also important to avoid carrying items that may pose a threat while boarding the aircraft. Therefore, items such as baseball bats and empty bullet casings are also prohibited from being carried onboard.

3 – Flammable and Explosive Materials

Flammable and explosive materials are also included in our list of items not allowed on airplanes. The primary reason for not allowing these materials onboard is that they can cause explosions due to the high pressure inside the aircraft. Therefore, when preparing your luggage, do not pack the following items:

  • Lighters with blue flame
  • Spray paint
  • Pepper spray
  • Cologne
  • Deodorant larger than 100 ml
  • Bleach
  • Turpentine and acids

In addition to these materials, it’s essential to ensure that no compressed gases are carried onboard, especially in carry-on luggage. During your journey, you are allowed to carry only one regular lighter with you.

4 – Non-Prescription Medicines

It’s important to note that non-prescription medications should not be carried in your carry-on luggage. Apart from prescription medications that are necessary for your health condition and need to be used or kept with you as a precaution during the journey, you should not carry any other medications in your carry-on luggage.

5 – Electronic Cigarette

Electronic cigarettes, which have become quite popular recently, are also among the items you cannot bring with you during your flight. During security checks, if an electronic cigarette is found in your carry-on or checked luggage, you will be asked to remove it from your bag or suitcase.

Furthermore, restrictions regarding electronic cigarettes can vary depending on the airline and the destination you are traveling to. Therefore, if you intend to bring an electronic cigarette with you during your flight, it’s essential to check the baggage rules of the airline you will be using.

6 – Lithium Batteries

Lithium batteries are also among the items that should not be in your luggage. However, electronic devices such as tablets and laptops containing these batteries are accepted onboard. The reason for this is that the size of the batteries inside these devices does not pose any danger. Additionally, standalone lithium batteries and large items containing such batteries are not permitted onboard.

7 – Dangerous and Prohibited Substances

No hazardous or prohibited substances that could pose a risk during the flight or cause any adverse incidents are allowed onboard. These substances include oxidizers, gases, flammable materials, explosives, infectious substances, organic peroxides, corrosives, toxic materials, radioactive materials, and magnetic materials.

8 – Firearms and Firearms-like Objects

Items such as pistols, shotguns, air guns, and ammunition are strictly prohibited from being taken onboard airplanes. All airlines strictly restrict the transportation of such items. Apart from special procedures applied to individuals required to carry firearms due to their profession, carrying firearms for any other reason is not permitted. In addition to firearms, items such as arrows, bows, blank cartridges, and any other objects that could be used as weapons are also strictly prohibited from being in your luggage or carry-on bags.

9 – Repair Tools

Among the items that should not be in your luggage during the flight are repair tools that could pose a danger to passenger safety. Items such as screwdrivers, nails, drills, and hammers should not be in your carry-on luggage.

10 – Self-Balancing Devices

Self-balancing devices are among the items you cannot bring onboard airplanes. Even if they don’t have battery connections, these devices contain large lithium batteries and are not allowed on airplanes. Examples of self-balancing devices include electric skateboards, hoverboards, U-runners, and electric scooters.

11 – Food

It’s not prohibited to bring food onboard airplanes. However, there are certain restrictions regarding this matter. Liquid and liquid-like foods are not suitable for transport in luggage. Additionally, you can bring solid foods up to a certain quantity. Nevertheless, if you plan to bring food with you, it’s advisable to review the rules of the airline you will be traveling with regarding this matter.
